Matt Cooper is a broadcaster and writer. He is best known as presenter of The Last Word on Today FM, which he has turned into Ireland’s highest rated evening drivetime radio programme. He has been a print journalist for nearly twenty years and was the youngest ever editor of a national newspaper when he was made editor of The Sunday Tribune in 1996 at the age of 30. He spent six and a half years in that job before resigning to take up a radio career. He continues to write as a leader page columnist for The Sunday Times and The Irish Examiner. He was twice national journalist of the year (in 1993 and 2001), twice business journalist of the year (1992 and 1999) and young journalist of the year in 1991. He is also an experienced television presenter and contributor both with TV3 and RTE. His first book, Who Really Runs Ireland has just been published (by Penguin Ireland) and has gone straight to number 2 in the bestseller lists
