Biography – Kerry has just landed the female lead in a new pilot for HBO, directed by Michael Mann and starring Dustin Hoffman and was most recently seen in the role of ‘Masha’ opposite James McAvoy in The Last Station. She was born in Ireland in Tipperary, and studied at the Dublin Theatre Arts School. In her final year of schooling she made her professional debut (at just 16 years of age) as Theresa Carmody in Angela’s Ashes directed by Alan Parker. Other major roles quickly followed, including Marietta Flynn in Rat directed by Steve Barron and Eileen in How Harry Became A Tree directed by Goran Paskaljevic. More recently, Kerry appeared as Kate Kelly in Ned Kelly directed by Gregor Jordan for Working Title, and in Intermission with Colin Farrell, directed by John Crowley for Company of Wolves. Kerry appeared as the female lead (Victoria) in Unleashed, with Morgan Freeman and Jet Li, directed by Louis Leterrier and produced by Luc Besson. In theatre Kerry was offered the role of Ophelia in Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company, directed by Steven Pimlott, when she was just 19 years old, making her the youngest actress ever to play that role for the RSC. As part of the same contract, Kerry also originated the role of Mairead in Martin McDonagh’s hugely successful The Lieutenant of Inishmore for the Royal Shakespeare Company, directed by Wilson Milam. Other theatre includes Mc Donagh’s The Lonesome West for the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool, directed by Paddy Kineen. Television credits include her role as Mairead Reilly in the BBC Production of Ballykissangel and she appeared in a guest lead in ITV’s series Bad Blood. Kerry appeared in the role of Octavia in two series of HBO’sTV series Rome (HBO in US, BBC2 in UK), which co-starred Ciaran Hinds, Lindsay Duncan, James Purefoy and Ken Cranham. Also for HBO, she made the TV Movie Anatomy of Hope directed by J.J.Abrams. Kerry reprised her role of Mairead in Lieutenant of Inishmore in a Tony award nominated Broadway production directed by Martin McDonagh in January 2006.
Kerry recently appeared as Masha in The Last Station a new film with Helen Mirren and James McAvoy and directed by Michael Hoffman which was nominated for two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes and five Independent Spirit Awards.
Kerry appeared as Slippy Helen in The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, directed by Garry Hynes for Druid Theatre Company which transferred from the Galway Arts Festival and Dublin Theatre Festival to a hugely successful run at the Atlantic Theater, New York. Kerry has most recently wrapped filming the female lead (Grace) in The Runway, a new Irish feature film directed by Ian Power for Fastnet Films and due for release in 2010.
Kerry is currently shooting a recurring role in Luck, a pilot for HBO opposite Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte, directed by Michael Mann.
