Declan’s appearances at the Abbey and Peacock Theatres include True West, All My Sons, Henry IV, A Whistle in The Dark, Famine, The Hamlet Project, The Last Ones, The Patriot Game, A Month in the Country, Julius Caesar, The Recruiting Officer and as John Proctor in Patrick Mason’s acclaimed production of The Crucible at the Abbey Theatre. He appeared in Rough Magic’s new production Improbable Frequency for the Dublin Theatre Festival (2004) which transferred to the Abbey Theatre in 2005. Other theatre work includes: The Walls, The Ends of The Earth, The Machine Wreckers (Royal National Theatre), As You Like It, La Lupa, The Mysteries, The Spanish Tragedy, Henry VI Part III (RSC), Macbeth (West End), Our Country’s Good (Young Vic), Juno and The Paycock (Gaiety), Decadence, Hamlet, Endgame (Naked Theatre Company), Rough Magic’s Copenhagen and The Book of Evidence (Kilkenny Arts Festival/Gate Theatre), True West (Lyric, Belfast), Heavenly Bodies directed by Lynne Parker, Television includes: Proof, Anytime Now, Bachelor’s Walk, Hot House, Dangerfield and The Family. Film includes All Souls Day and The Truth About Sex. He appeared as series regular Mendosa, in The Tudors, Season I, (Showtime/Working Title) and appeared in Single Handed II, Stolen Child (Touchpaper Films/RTE) and as recurring character Turlough Norris on RTE’s Fair City for which he was nominated for an IFTA in 2010, and in Season One of RAW for Octagon Films/RTE.

Declan appeared in Miss Julie directed by Michael Barker Caven for Landmark Productions at the Project Arts Centre and as Creon in The Burial At Thebes directed by Patrick Mason at the Peacock Centre, Dublin. He appeared in The Sanctuary Lamp in a new production directed by Tom Murphy for Bespoke Theatre Company at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Dublin which went on to tour Ireland and the UK including a run in the Arcola Theatre in 2010. He appeared in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof directed by Annie Ryan for Corn Exchange at the Dublin Theatre Festival and recently appeared in Tom Murphy’s new play The Last Days of a Reluctant Tyrant directed by Conall Morrisson at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin. He most recently appeared in Corn Exchange’s Freefall, written by Michael West and directed by Annie Ryan on international tour and in the Abbey Theatre, Dublin. Declan recently appeared in Hereafter, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon which appeared in the top ten feature list for over 8 weeks in the US. He recently completed an international tour of Mark O’Rowe’s play Terminus for the Abbey theatre which appeared in venues across the UK, USA and at Sydney Opera House to huge critical and popular acclaim. Declan has just wrapped filming a leading role in Amber, a new four part mini-series for RTE directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan and due for broadcast in 2012.
