Dorothy is originally from Donegal/Tyrone and now lives in London.
Her work in theatre includes Some Voices by Joe Penhall at The Young Vic directed by Matthew Dunster, The Loves of Cass Mc Guire and O’Carolan’s Farewel l both for The Backburners.
Dorothy’s film work includes Rose in Peter Mullan’s internationally acclaimed film The Magdalene Sisters which received many awards including Best Film at The Venice Film Festival, was nominated for 3 Baftas and for which she was awarded Best Ensemble Cast at The British Independent Film Awards alongside Geraldine Mc Ewan, Anne Marie Duff, Eileen Walsh and Nora Jane Noone. Her other films roles include Trauma, Ostan na gCroithe Bhriste and most recently Leila directed by Lesley Manning.
For television Dorothy has worked on many productions for the BBC including Casualty 1906, River City, Doctors, Holby City, Leanne Mc Bride and The Shoebox Zoo, Silent Witness and most recently Identity for ITV.
Her radio credits include The Giant O’Brien.
Dorothy is currently working on Mike Leigh’s new and as yet untitled play for The National Theatre which will run in The Cottesloe from September 2011.
Dorothy is a fluent Irish speaker
