Charlie (Charlotte) is a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting two year full-time course. Her theatre credits include Romeo and Juliet (Half Moon Theatre), The Sound of Music and Cabaret (Bare Cheek Theatre Co), The Taming of the Shrew (Shakespeare in the Park), 4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane along with Fowl and Conspiracy Theory, devised works created by Bodily Functions. Other theatre productions include Gods Lap and “A” pool (no water) at the Granary Theatre, Cork, Poet Laureate (Crazy Dog Audio Theatre), and Once a Catholic (Wexford Opera House). She most recently appeared as Jessica in This is Our Youth directed by Jimmy Fay for Bedrock Theatre Company at the Project Arts Centre and Anatomy of a Seagull directed by Jason Byrne for Loose Canon Theatre Company for the Dublin Theatre Festival Fringe 2009. Charlie appeared in several roles in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui directed by Lisa May for Bruiser Theatre Company in venues across Northern Ireland in early 2010.
Charlie’s TV/Film work includes Open House (Arc Fold), Bluebeard (Cartoon Saloon), and Jenny Was A Friend of Mine in the role of Emma as part of RTE’s online Storyland Project. Charlie appeared the recurring role of Siobhan in both seasons RTE’s multi award winning TV drama Love-Hate written by Stuart Carolan, starring Aiden Gillen and Robert Sheehan and produced by Octagon Films in 2010 and 2011. Charlie also appeared on RTE in role of Mairead, the guest lead in two episodes of Single Handed IV, directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan for Touchpaper TV/RTE and ITV which aired in 2011. She was cast in season one of Camelot for Starz Channel in 2010.
Charlie appeared as the Colleen Rua in The Colleen Bawn, directed by Jimmy Fay at the Project Arts Centre and on tour. She appeared to huge critical acclaim as Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion directed by Anabelle Comyn at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin for which she was recently awarded the Irish Times Theatre Best Actress Award 2011. In 2011 Charlie also appeared in The Silver Tassie directed by Garry Hynes at the Lincoln Center, New York prior to appearing as Runt in Disco Pigs directed by Cathal Cleary at the Young Vic London and went on to appear as Katie in Big Maggie directed by Garry Hynes for Druid Theatre company in Galway, for two runs in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin and on tour across Ireland in 2011/2012.
Charlie is currently shooting her third season in the series regular role of Siobhan in Love Hate for Octagon Films/RTE/STV which will air on RTE in late 2012.
