Alison is from Dublin and trained at the Samuel Beckett Centre in Trinity College. She lives between there and London. Alison works extensively in Ireland and the UK on stage and screen and has been twice nominated in the Irish Times Theatre Awards in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories.

Recent theatre work includes: The Trip To Bountiful (Jessie May ) at the Courtyard Theatre, London and The Rivals (Julia) directed by Patrick Mason at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin.

Other theatre roles include Ibsen’s The Lady From The Sea (Bolette) in a new version by Frank Mc Guinness, An Enemy Of The People (Mrs Stockmann) in a new version by Rebecca Lenkiewicz both at the Arcola Theatre, London and Terry Johnson’s Hysteria (Jessica) in b*spoke theatre companys production at the Project Arts Centre, for which she was nominated Best Actress.

Other plays for the Abbey Theatre includes the premier of Tom Murphy’s version of The Cherry Orchard (Varya) , The Importance of Being Earnest (Gwendolyn), The Colleen Bawn (Anne Chute) for which she was nominated again for Best Supporting Actress, the premier of Tom Kilroys version of Six Characters in Search of an Author (Stepdaughter), the premier of Tom Murphys She Stoops To Folly (Olivia), Moses Rock (Joan) and The Misogynist (Chorus). Alison toured with the Peacock in Tom Murphys The Patriot Game (Asquith) to the Tramway Theatre, Glasgow.

For the Gate theatre, Dublin she has appeared in the Irish premiers of the adaptations of Jane Eyre by Fay Weldon, Pride and Prejudice (Lydia) by James Maxwell and Hugh Leonard’s version of Great Expectations (Estella). She played Claire in Brian Friel’s Aristocrats at the Gate and in the Lincoln Festival, New York.

U.K. theatre includes: Mutabilitie (Annas) by Frank McGuinness directed by Trevor Nunn and Night Of the Iguana (Charlotte) by Tennesse Williams directed by Richard Eyre at the National Theatre; A Woman of No Importance (Hester) directed by Marianne Elliot and The Colleen Bawn (Colleen Bawn) directed by Garry Hynes at the Manchester Royal Exchange. She worked for the RSC in London on The Hostage (Teresa) directed by Michael Bogdanov and in Edinburgh in The Gigli Concert (Mona) by Tom Murphy at the Assembly Rooms. Alison played Sarah in the Norman Conquests by Alan Ayckbourne at the Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke and Laura in The Glass Menagerie directed by David Lan at the Watford Palace Theatre. For the Royal Court she played in the Young Writers Festival (Claire) directed by Ian Rickson.

Television roles include: Marina in The Clinic (Parallel Films), Joanne in The Bill (Thames TV) , Linda in Pie in the Sky (Select TV for the BBC, 10 eps), Jennifer in The Ambassador (Ecosse Films for the BBC), Emma in The Cassidys (Graph Films for RTE, 6 eps), Celia in Fair City (RTE – 8 eps) and Goldie in Casualty ( BBC).

Films include The Actors directed by Conor McPherson ( Company Of Wolves / Neil Jordan Films) , The Fifth Province directed by Frank Stapleton (Ocean Films), The American directed by Paul Unwin (BBC Films) , Bossanova Blues directed by Kieron J Walsh (RCA), The Sign Of The Fish (Setanta Animations), When Reason Sleeps (Channel 4) , Three Wishes For Jamie (HTV / Columbia Films) and Now I Know (ITV).

For radio she has recorded Poetry Please (2011 series for Radio 4), The Road Wife, The Night Manager and Haunting Women by Dermot Bolger for R4 Womens Hour. For RTE Radio 1 she has recorded A Midsummers Nights Dream, Loonies, The Funeral, The Importance of Being Earnest and A Little Mice Music. In addition Alison records audio books (Anne Enrights The Gathering and Roddy Doyles Paula Spencer for RNIB) and does voice overs.

Alison co-founded b*spoke theatre company in 2002 and has produced Electra in a version by Frank Mc Guinness, The Drunkard by Tom Murphy after WH Smith & A Gentleman, Boston Marriage by David Mamet, Family Stories by Biljana Shriblanovic, Hysteria by Terry Johnson, Tejas Verdes by Fermín Cabal, Honour by Joanna Murray Smith, The Sanctuary Lamp by Tom Murphy and Benefactors by Michael Frayn for the company.
