Biography

As a member of the Abbey Theatre Company in the sixties and seventies (of the last century), Pat Laffan performed in many plays, old and new, from the Abbey repertoire. As well as in the old Queens Theatre and the "new" Abbey, the company played in many parts of the world including Britain, Europe, the US and Australia. For most of the seventies Pat was Director of the Peacock Theatre and directed in the Gate Theatre from 1979 to 1982. Notable productions include One Flew Over the CuckooÍs Nest for Noel Pearson at the Gaiety Theatre and Chekhov's Three Sisters at the Gate Theatre. Television acting credits include The Clinic, Showbands, On Home Ground, Strumpet City, Eastenders,The Governor, Sharpe's Rifles, Father Ted and Random Passage. Films include The Queen (currently on general release), The Boys and Girl from County Clare, Waiting For Dublin, Intermission, How Harry Became a Tree, Country, The Serpent's Kiss, The Closer You Get, The Saint, Durango, The Snapper, The General and Barry Lyndon.
